Although Chabri is as busy as always, I managed to catch her for just a little bit while she is in preparation for her S/S 2012 Collection at First Coast Fashion Week in Jacksonville, Florida. Chabri Cunningham is one of my favorite Floridian designers and I have had the pleasure of working with her many times. The pieces she creates are beautiful, unique , and still manage to be wearable. I got to chat with her a little about her newest collection and what her focal concepts were in creating it.
“I am still loving flowy comfortable fabrics in pieces that have convertibility worked into them so you can change them in some ways to reflect the days vibe. Many of the dresses will be able to go from day to night with just perhaps a quick accessory change. The new collection’s mood is kind of effortless with some elements of understated glam”. says the talented designer.
Perhaps my favorite part about Chabri’s designs is the convertibility. You can go from a halter, to a one shoulder, to a criss-cross back in seconds. A simple neckline change can go a long way when transitioning from day-to-night. I am also always enamored by the colors she chooses. She is extremely aware of color by seasons and always hits that aspect square on the head.
“The color palette of the show begins with bold tomato reds, oranges, and corals, then blends into minty greens lime greens and gray. It then transitions to deeper tones; turquoises, teal,s and blues; then into navy blue and white”.
The collection includes a few of the spring trends we talked about in earlier posts. Pastels and color-blocking are probably the most prominent. Not forgetting, the brights. Brights are the perfect palate to take you right through Spring and into Summer.
All designs by Chabri are custom-made at very reasonable prices! Check them out at http://www.CHABRI.com!!
