At last fall’s Fashion’s Night Out, I had the amazing opportunity to meet Nicholas K and discuss her Spring 2012 RTW collection. She had just launched her line of women’s shoes and was extremely excited about what she had created. This time, I did not have the luxury, but I am 100% sure that she is more than proud of this Fall collection. Seemingly inspired by the American West, I found Nicholas K’s Fall RTW collection to look like something the “Gothic Cowboy” might wear. From the dark eye make up to the blunt cut for the ladies hair, this collection had a dark edge. Amazing use of texture and the muted color palate was cool, but not boring. I loved the accessory choice in the occasional striped scarf to bring just a little dimension into the looks.
The winner, however, in this show was the styling. Nicholas K’s use of layering never ceases to amaze me. She has mastered the art of layering without making the looks seem heavy. Her use of breathable fabric with heavier ones like wool gives the PERFECT balance for fall.
