My long time readers can attest to the fact that I am not the biggest fan of American fashion, but I do love the designers who are able to consistently create THE Americana look. Tommy Hilfiger is one of these designers. His understanding of the classic american prep look has never failed to scream America. This year Hilfiger took his prep “out to pasture” with his Fall 2012 RTW collection. Appropriately titled “Town and Country”, the collection was an ode to the equestrian persuasion. Riding jackets with high collars, fisherman’s net printed dresses, and sexy skirts with leather paneling were true to form, but not very fun. I have actually enjoyed the Hilfiger shows over the past few seasons, but this one was a little stuffy. Well made, Americana it is, but where’s the fun?
